Google helps you keep your Gmail account protected

Gmail is better and better.

Ok, my friends, I won't go in detail presenting you the mail service from Google, I think that the service is to popular to need further presentation. Gmail is better and better with each feature released by Google for this service. Not to long ago Gmail have presented for you to use some features still in testing versions by poiting to settings link on your Gmail account page then pointing to Labs tab in your settings page.

How Google helps me?

Now lets get to the subject of this post. You just need to pay a litle atention to details. Just scroll down to bottom of any page from your Gmail account and click the Details link next to the Last account activity line. What you get on this link? Like Google says :

It's information we'd use to troubleshoot unauthorized account activity, and now it's available to you.

On this page you can find about conccurent sessions opened of your Gmail account. You have even an option to sign out from all other sessions opened of your account. This is not stoping here. Google give us access to some more information. The recent activity table present to you the last five activities with Access Type column showing how your account was accessed, like browser, POP3 or mobile access, an IP address column showing the IP address that have accessed your account and a Date/Time column showing you the time when your account was accessed.

How-To improve image search results

Well, Google wants to improve the quality of your searches and invite you to play. Yes, play and be useful helping you, others and Google at the same time. You don't need to register an account or do anything else, just start playing.
With Google image labeler you need to label (tag) random images picked by Google and match your labels with another user that use this service and Google chose for you to play with. You have 2 minutes to label random images and match your labels with the user that Google randomly picked for you. You will receive points with any match and more points if the matches are more descriptive for the image.

Look to the future: The supreme ruler of the internet

In my previous post, Web applications, the right way to the future I've pointed you to some great web apps lists from where you can chose the right application for you or your company. I've posted a link to Google app engine powered web applications to. Why I mentioned it? Because I will tell you about Google and my point of view about how Google is in a race by him self to conquer the Internet.
Now, to get to the subject, since Google have left developers create web applications on the same engine that their own applications run will attract more users on the Google's side, since users with a Google account can simply log in to any Google app engine powered web application.
Announcing the open sign-ups at Google app engine now every one can try to create his own web application. They even posted on Google app engine blog the expected pricing as follows:

• $0.10 - $0.12 per CPU core-hour

• $0.15 - $0.18 per GB-month of storage

• $0.11 - $0.13 per GB outgoing bandwidth

• $0.09 - $0.11 per GB incoming bandwidth

That if your application will need more that the free account will give you, that means:

• 500MB of space

• 5 millions page views / month

Now, if you want that your application to work offline too, you can enhance your web app with Google gears API. Not to mention that 2 new APIs have been released from Google, the image manipulation API and memcache API. You can boost your web app even more by using all the other APIs that Google gives to you.
I wonder witch big company can follow Google in this race on conquering the Internet !?
